Former Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy has been appointed as Kenya’s new head coach, signing a two-year deal. The South African football legend says he aims to lead the Harambee Stars to their first-ever World Cup in 2026.

McCarthy, 47, replaces Francis Kimanzi and will debut in this month’s qualifiers against The Gambia and Gabon. Kenya currently sits fourth in Group F, five points behind leaders Ivory Coast.

A Champions League winner with Porto, McCarthy promises a hard-working team, saying Kenyan players must show passion and dedication. His appointment signals a fresh start under Kenya’s new football administration.
