Harare – Minex has announced the opening of entries for the 12th edition of the Mining Media Awards, with submissions running from 16 September to 17 October 2025. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 21 November 2025 at the Crowne Plaza Monomotapa in Harare.
This year’s event will run under the theme “Stories of Growth and Sustainability”, highlighting the role of journalism in shaping narratives around mining, economic development, and community well-being.
Minex Chairman, Munyaradzi Hwengwere, underscored the importance of storytelling in linking resources to investors and communities. “The Mining Media Awards were created to tell the mining story in ways that show mining is good for tomorrow. Growth is good, but it must happen in ways that ensure communities and the environment don’t suffer. At the centre of that story is the media practitioner — the journalist,” he said.
He added that Minex is enhancing the value of the awards following feedback from journalists in past editions. “This year, we are making a commitment to reward storytellers better than before. We have partnered with the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists and the Association of Mining Journalists of Zimbabwe to strengthen this ecosystem,” he noted.
The Mining Media Awards celebrate excellence in mining journalism, recognizing the media’s role in promoting sustainable growth and amplifying community voices in the sector.
