All Set For Start of Nedbank Tour De Great Dyke

The Nedbank Tour De Great Dyke cycling tour kicks off tomorrow at Zimplatsā€™ Truck Inn in Selous with the participating cyclists and top mining executives expected to grace the event.

In a statement released today, the Tour De Great Dyke Event Director Gabriel Choga said over 100 cyclists from mining companies and cycling clubs in the Great Dyke and other parts of the country have confirmed participation at the cycling event.

 ā€œThe tour which will be launched at Zimplatsā€™ Truck Inn, Selous on Thursday 27th October 2022 will see cyclists riding through Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru and Shurugwi en route to Zvishavane.

ā€œ This year, a record 110 cyclists from major mines and cycling clubs are participating in the premier cycling event on Zimbabweā€™s calendar.

ā€œThe tour is divided into three laps, namely the Zimplats lap from Selous to Kwekwe, the Unki lap from Kwekwe to Shurugwi and the Mimosa lap from Shurugwi to Zvishavane,ā€ he said.

He added that the cycling tour is a platform that seeks to promote wellness and environmental sustainability.

ā€œThe Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke is a platform for miners in the Great Dyke to promote wellness and appreciate the fact that they are custodians of a precious resource which they can use to support those that are in need many children have benefited in terms of their education curtesy of the Tour De Great Dyke.

ā€œThrough Gifted Children Foundation the tour seeks to empower talented and yet vulnerable children in the Great Dyke. To date over 100 children at various stages of learning from primary to tertiary education have been supported.

ā€œAs the cyclists traverse the Great Dyke, the need for environmental sustainability will also be promoted,ā€ he added.

The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke is an annual cycling event that was launched in 2016 by YAFM to enhance awareness of the immense investment opportunities across the mineral rich Great Dyke. The tour is supported by mining companies, cities and towns along the Great Dyke.
