The Environmental Management Agency EMA, has warned artisanal miners against the illegal disposal of dangerous chemicals because they are endangering the lives of people and livestock in host communities.
In a telephone interview with Great Dyke News 24 reporter Nomthandazo Ndlovu, EMA Midlands Provincial Spokesperson Mr Oswald Ndlovu said the law is bound to catch up with those involved.
The remarks by EMA come at a time when Shurugwi district has witnessed an upsurge in cancer and tuberculosis cases attributed to cyanide and mercury used by artisanal miners, which is also killing livestock.
