Unions, Parents Speak On Teachers-Government Standoff.

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union ZCTU says the plans to recruit 10 000 unemployed qualified teachers to replace those on strike will not resolve the problems in the country’s education sector.

Speaking this week Progressive Teachers Union Secretary General Raymond Majongwe said teachers have not been reporting for duty because of the incapacitation that unions earlier declared.

Meanwhile, parents with children at boarding schools in Matabeleland South said they are unhappy with the absence of teachers in schools and urged authorities to send children back home while they negotiate with teachers.
