The Health and Child Care ministry has dismissed reports claiming that government will force doctors to join the military.
Responding to questions in parliament yesterday Health and Child Care deputy minister Dr John Mangwiro explained that no one is being forced to join one sector or the other but recent graduates are being given options which they are free to choose.
Dr Mangwiroās remarks follow a circular recently making the rounds on social media platforms directing recently-qualified doctors to enrol as soldiers under the defence ministry if they are to be allowed to practise anywhere in Zimbabwe.
The circular, purportedly prepared by the Health Service Board, had irked doctors and the general public who felt that it was tantamount to militarising the health sector.
