In a bid to address the concerns and salary expectations of health workers, representatives from the Apex Council have initiated discussions with the Ministry of Health and Childcare.

James Sibanda, Chief of Staff at the Health Apex Council, revealed in an interview that they have presented their grievances to the government during a meeting and are now awaiting feedback from the relevant commission overseeing health sector employees.

The ongoing cholera outbreak, with Zimbabwe grappling to contain the situation, underscores the critical importance of maintaining harmony within the health services sector. As of March 3, 2024, the country has reported 27,055 suspected cholera cases, with 2,734 confirmed cases, 26,334 recoveries, 71 confirmed deaths, and 501 suspected deaths.

The negotiations between health worker representatives and government officials take on added significance against the backdrop of this health crisis, emphasizing the need for a collaborative and supportive working environment to effectively combat the cholera outbreak.
