Mimosa Mine hopes to expand its wellness programs through collaboration with other mining companies, aiming to rekindle the spirit of the national Chamber of Mines Games of the 1970s and 1980s.
Engineer Stephen Ndiyamba, General Manager of Mimosa Mine, told Great Dyke News that while this year’s sports day was scaled down due to low mineral prices, the company remains committed to future collaborations with industry peers.
“In the past, we’ve had companies like Unki participate in our wellness programs, and we’ve also joined theirs. Our hope is to extend these efforts by encouraging more involvement from mining companies such as Zimplats,” Ndiyamba said.
Ndiyamba also suggested that the Chamber of Mines could take over the games to reintroduce the national competition, fostering industry-wide camaraderie and knowledge exchange.
“These events bring us closer together as an industry, and we are optimistic about making this vision a reality once economic conditions improve,” he added.
