Mining Companies Commended for Community Contributions at Palawani Wellness Challenge

At the 2024 Palawani Wellness Challenge, businesswoman Ashell Ruswa expressed her appreciation for the significant contributions of regional mining companies, acknowledging their efforts in leveraging mineral resources for community betterment.

Ruswa highlighted the positive impact of companies such as Mimosa, Unki, Sabi, and Murowa.

Ruswa also praised the collaboration between these mining companies and the leading football team, FC Platinum, which is actively participating in this year’s wellness program. “We must thus applaud the fact that they are working together with the leading football team, FC Platinum, who are freely participating in this year’s program,” she remarked.

Despite wintery conditions, the Palawani Wellness Challenge took place this weekend at the Palawani Lakeworld Resort near Zvishavane Town, showcasing remarkable endurance and competitive spirit among local runners. The event drew a determined crowd, with participants braving the cold to compete in both the 21 km and 10 km races.

In the men’s 21 km race, Tatenda Hove from Ngezi emerged victorious, taking home the top prize of $100. Close behind was Tinashe Mapfumo in second place, earning $50, followed by Chalse Ngoweni in third with a $25 prize.

On the women’s side, Yvert Sibanda of the Gweru Runners Club dominated, claiming first place and $100. Moreblessing Chikuti from Unki took second, while Chikomwe P from the Gweru Runners Club secured third place.
