Legendary Hollywood actor Gene Hackman, 95, his wife Betsy Arakawa, 63, and their dog were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on Wednesday. Authorities say no foul play is suspected, but an investigation is ongoing.
Hackman, one of Hollywood’s greatest “tough guys,” won two Academy Awards, including Best Actor for The French Connection (1971) and Best Supporting Actor for Unforgiven (1992). His illustrious career spanned over six decades, with notable roles in Bonnie and Clyde, Mississippi Burning, The Royal Tenenbaums, and as Lex Luthor in Superman.
A former U.S. Marine, Hackman trained as an actor at the Pasadena Playhouse, where he befriended Dustin Hoffman. He retired from acting after Welcome to Mooseport (2004).
The cause of death remains unknown as authorities await further investigation.
