A crucial polio vaccination campaign targeting children aged ten and below has commenced in Zvishavane, aiming to prevent the highly contagious disease that can cause severe physical disability. Running from February 4 to February 7, the initiative allows parents to bring their children to White Hospital or local schools for vaccination, while mobile teams of nurses conduct door-to-door outreach to ensure maximum coverage.
Health promotion officer Rumbidzai Chikwana emphasized the urgency of the campaign, warning that polio has no cure and prevention is the only defense.
Residents that spoke to Great Dyke News in Zvishavane echoed the importance of the drive, urging parents not to hide their children but instead take advantage of the free vaccinations.
