In the mining sector, RioZim Limited has reported a 13% surge in gold production during the third quarter of 2023. The increase to 307 kilograms was attributed to improved power supply, notably benefiting operations at Cam & Motor and Renco mines. While Dalny Mine remains under care and maintenance, the refurbishment of equipment at Cam & Motor is expected to optimize plant performance.
Despite the positive strides in gold production, diamond output at RZM Murowa saw a 12% decline to 100,000 carats due to plant breakdowns. Efforts to stabilize operations and enhance plant efficiency are underway.
However, RioZim expressed concerns over unreliable power supply, anticipating challenges to persist, especially with the approaching rainy season. The company has invested in backup generators, but high fuel consumption poses production cost challenges.
Empress Nickel Refinery in Kadoma remains under care and maintenance during this period, marking a steady focus on ensuring operational efficiency within the group.
