Two employees of Garlpex Investments Private Limited, Fungai Mafundirwa, 38, and Kaseba Cosmas Ngwenya, 72, have been charged with the theft of mining equipment valued at US$194,500.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the pair, a security manager and a guard, respectively, are accused of conspiring to sell the equipment without authorization.
They allegedly received USD 3,000 from a buyer and reported the equipment as stolen to cover their tracks. However, an investigation led to their arrest. The stolen equipment has not been recovered.
Mafundirwa and Ngwenya appeared in court at Hwange Magistrates Court, facing charges of theft of trust property.
