Montrose Ncube and Innocent Dickson Sibanda have been sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Gweru High Court for the murder of Lovemore Mangisi in May 2021.
The court heard that the two accused, aged 36 and 20 at the time of the crime, were involved in a violent altercation with Mangisi, who attempted to stop a fight involving his sisters.
During the altercation, Ncube struck Mangisi with a Columbian knife on the head. Mangisi retreated to his room, where Sibanda followed and repeatedly hit him with a metal rod, causing fatal head injuries. The two men then dragged Mangisi’s body to a nearby grassy area and dumped it.
