The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), led by Professor Welshman Ncube, is split after Sengezo Tshabangu declared Ncube’s leadership term ended in May 2023, citing the party’s constitution.
Tshabangu claims authority, as Ncube’s five-year term, beginning in 2019, has expired.
This comes as the government allocated $1.6 million to the CCC, sparking speculation that the dispute centers around control of the funds. Ncube’s spokesperson, Willas Madzimure, dismissed Tshabangu’s claims, accusing him of seeking personal gain.
CCC Mashonaland East Chairman Francis Badzarigere, backing Tshabangu, insisted that Senator Tshabangu is the legitimate leader, recognized by parliament and courts. He called for a party congress if Ncube seeks to regain leadership.
