President Emmerson Mnangagwa has passionately called for the immediate and unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe over the past 23 years. Speaking at the 2nd Edition of the ED Mnangagwa Business Summit 2024, the President emphasized the nation’s resilience in the face of enduring sanctions, rejecting any attempts to manipulate public perception through propaganda.

During his resolute address, President Mnangagwa underscored the sanctions’ alleged illegality, unjustifiability, and perceived cruelty, highlighting their widespread adverse impact on the entire Zimbabwean populace. The President positioned the removal of these sanctions as a crucial step in addressing the country’s economic challenges.

The government has consistently attributed Zimbabwe’s economic woes, including hyperinflation and high poverty levels, to the imposed sanctions. This claim, however, faces contradiction from the United States, which maintains that the sanctions are targeted at specific individuals and do not constitute a blanket trade blockade, as observed in some other nations.
