Nkosana Nkala (34) appeared before the Gwanda Magistrates’ Court today on charges of impersonating a public official, following his deceitful claims of being an undercover agent for the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
Nkala, who was employed as a gardener by Isyie Landscaping and Design in December 2023, misled the company’s Director on January 23, 2024, by falsely claiming via WhatsApp that he was an undercover ZACC agent. Nkala further fabricated a story that he had been assigned to investigate a local company, justifying his employment with the landscaping firm as part of his covert duties.
His deceit created significant operational challenges for the landscaping company’s Director, who found it difficult to allocate tasks to Nkala due to his frequent absences, which he attributed to ZACC duties. Nkala also coerced the Director into paying him a full salary despite his part-time status, with assurances that ZACC would reimburse the funds.
