Chipo Harawa (33) and Kudzai Nyaruwata, both from Sakubva, Mutare, have been fined for contravening the Trademark Act after being found selling counterfeit Eversharp pens. Harawa, director of CPM Investments, and Nyaruwata, of KM Investments, appeared before the Mutare Magistrates’ Court, where they were charged with selling goods affixed with forged trademarks.

The charges followed a routine inspection by a loss control officer from Eversharp Private Limited on September 23, 2024, which led to the discovery of counterfeit Eversharp pens at the two businesses.

Authorities seized 86 boxes containing 50 counterfeit pens from Harawaā€™s shop and 16 boxes from Nyaruwataā€™s business.

Both accused were ordered to pay a fine of USD 200 each or face 30 days of imprisonment. The counterfeit goods were forfeited to the state.
