The Meteorological Service Department has provided insights into the upcoming weather conditions, forecasting sunny skies with warm to hot temperatures for Matebeleland South, Masvingo, and Manicaland provinces. According to James Ngoma from the Meteorological Service Department, these regions can expect clear conditions and minimal precipitation.
As the weekend approaches, a shift in the weather pattern is anticipated. Ngoma cautioned that clouds originating from the west along the Botswana border are likely to bring light rain to parts of Matebeleland South, followed by Masvingo and Midlands.
The Meteorological Department further noted that the incoming clouds may escalate into thunderstorms and heavy showers, accompanied by strong winds and lightning. Of particular concern is the risk of localized flooding, especially in Matebeleland South province.In an interview, James Ngoma offered valuable advice to farmers in light of the impending weather changes. He recommended implementing moisture conservation methods such as mulching and terracing, especially in areas anticipating light rainfall. Ngoma emphasized the importance of irrigation where feasible to ensure crops receive adequate moisture.
In addition to these measures, Ngoma urged farmers to consult with their local Agritex officers for tailored advice on moisture conservation methods. Recognizing the officers’ expertise, he highlighted their ability to provide customized guidance based on local conditions and offer additional resources and support to farmers. Ngoma encouraged farmers to leverage the knowledge and assistance of Agritex officers to guarantee optimal moisture levels for their crops throughout the growing season.
