ZESA says Zimbabwe will experience minimal load curtailment during the Christmas and New Year holidays, as well as during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco.
Spokesperson George Manyaya said 2025 recorded improved power generation compared to previous years, following mitigation measures and stakeholder support. He noted that the festive season outlook is stable, supported by improved plant availability at Hwange Units 1 and 2, Kariba Power Station, contributions from independent power producers, and electricity imports from the Southern African Power Pool.
Reduced industrial activity during the holidays is also expected to ease pressure on the national grid.
ZESA assured the public that systems are in place to support increased demand from tourism and national interest in AFCON, with 24-hour contact centres and technical teams on standby throughout the festive period.
