Zimbabweās Commissioner General for Expo 2025 Osaka, Allan Majuru, has been recognized for his outstanding efforts in advancing the countryās global trade and investment agenda. Majuru, who also serves as the CEO of ZimTrade, secured second place in the Commercial Category of the Chief Executive Officersā Performance Awards, with the top spot going to Tinotenda Mhiko, CEO of ARDA.
The recognition comes as Zimbabwe ramps up preparations for Expo 2025 Osaka, where it aims to showcase its economic potential, cultural heritage, and investment opportunities. In a major step forward, the country recently launched its official Expo 2025 website and mobile app at an event in Harare. The platforms will serve as hubs for real-time updates, investor engagement, and tourism promotion ahead of the global event, set to open in Japan on April 12, 2025.
Speaking at the launch, Ambassador A.R. Chimbindi, Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, highlighted the Expo as a crucial opportunity for Zimbabwe to expand its international partnerships. āThis event marks a significant milestone for Zimbabwe, offering us the opportunity to engage with the world and deepen our economic ties,ā he said.
Tourism and industry leaders, including Japanās Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Shinichi Yamanaka, and representatives from ZIDA, ZimTrade, and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, attended the launch. The digital platforms were developed by young innovators from the Harare Institute of Technology, whose efforts were praised as a symbol of Zimbabweās growing digital economy.
Meanwhile, Felix Mhona, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, has been named Zimbabweās Best Performing Cabinet Minister for 2024, following the annual Performance Contracts Review. The awards, which assess the effectiveness of senior government officials, were announced during the Performance Contracts Signing Ceremony 2025.
Hon. Anxious Masuka, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development, was recognized as the first runner-up, while former Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare, Hon. July Moyo, took second runner-up in the Cabinet Ministers category.
In the Permanent Secretaries category, Eng. J.P. Makumbe, Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure Development, was named Best Performing Permanent Secretary, with Prof. Obert Jiri from the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Rural Development securing first runner-up.
For Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ministers, Masvingo Provinceās Hon. Ezra Chadzamira was named Overall Best Performing Minister of State.
The performance-based contracts, introduced by the Government of Zimbabwe in 2021, aim to enhance accountability, transparency, and efficiency among senior officials. A total of 25 Cabinet Ministers were evaluated, with none exceeding targets, while 19 met the set targets and six were below target but within variance. Among 26 Permanent Secretaries, 15 met targets, while 11 were below but within an acceptable variance. Meanwhile, five Provincial Ministers met their targets, and another five fell slightly short.

As the country moves closer to the highly anticipated international event, Majuruās recognition further highlights his pivotal role in ensuring Zimbabwe makes a strong impact on the world stage.
