In a strategic move to revamp Zimbabwean football, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has officially named Yvonne Mapika Manwa as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective from November 1, 2023.
This significant appointment comes after a hiatus of two years, during which the position remained vacant following the suspension of Joseph Mamutse by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) in 2021.
In an official statement issued via X (formerly Twitter), Lincoln Mutasa, the Chairman of ZIFA, expressed his enthusiasm over Manwa’s appointment and the role she is set to play in ZIFA’s ongoing mission to “transform” local football.
Mutasa remarked, “We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Manwa to our team, and we believe her experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue on the mission to transform Zimbabwean football.”
Yvonne Mapika Manwa brings substantial experience to the table, having previously served as the Chief Executive for the local football club, Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Her appointment marks a notable milestone, as she becomes the second woman to assume the CEO role in ZIFA, following in the footsteps of Henrietta Rushwaya
