The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Midlands Provincial Command has invited business stakeholders to a series of crucial crime discussion meetings as part of its efforts to address rising criminal activities in the province. The initiative aims to foster collaboration between the police and the business community to ensure a safer festive season in 2024.
In a statement, Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko emphasized the importance of these engagements, describing them as an opportunity for business operators to share experiences, raise concerns, and develop strategies to tackle crime.
“This is a smash-and-grab opportunity for everyone in business to discuss and share strategies. Let’s grab the power of interaction, for iron sharpens iron,” said Inspector Mahoko.
The meetings are open to various stakeholders, including traditional chiefs, councillors, business owners, managers of retail outlets, representatives from the mining sector, money transfer agencies, manufacturing industries, fuel stations, bakeries, liquor outlets, hotels, lodges, transport operators, and heads of government departments.

- Addressing crime issues affecting businesses.
- Strategies for curbing criminal activities.
- Discussion of other police-related concerns.
Inspector Mahoko noted that the ZRP Provincial Command will be accompanied by members of the Business Against Crime and Crime Liaison Committees, which form part of ongoing community policing initiatives.

The meetings will be held across various districts in the Midlands Province as follows:
• Gokwe District: November 26, 2024, at Gokwe Community Hall (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
• Zvishavane District: November 27, 2024, at Mberengwa Education Hall (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
• Gweru Urban District: December 3, 2024. Venue to be announced (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
• Kwekwe District: December 5, 2024, at Kwekwe Theatre (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
• Gweru Rural District: December 12, 2024, at Insukamini Business Centre (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM).
Inspector Mahoko urged all business stakeholders to attend, highlighting the importance of community-driven solutions in addressing crime.
