The Zimbabwe Republic Police says that more than 50 000 people have been arrested for illegal mining related crimes since the onset of operation Chikorokoza ngachipere/Isitsheketsha Kasipele.
In a statement the Zimbabwe Republic Police indicated that 52 115 people have been arrested by police in mineral-rich areas around the country.
The statement added that in other operations, 13 943 motorists were arrested for operating public transport without exemption while 3 859 motorists were also arrested for driving vehicles without number plates.
