Gutu Villagers in Desperate Drill for Clean Water: Boreholes Needed to Beat Diarrhea Crisis

The villagers of Dzivakwi Village, under Chief Nyamandi in Gutu, are urgently appealing for boreholes. Their current water source—a spring shared with livestock and wildlife—has led to persistent diarrhea among 300 villagers, including school children.

In an interview one villager said the region’s climatic conditions (region 5) make it challenging to reach water tables even with deep wells.

He said they need assistance from Gutu RDC, government departments (including the Ministry of Health), NGOs working on clean water initiatives, UNICEF, and any other well-wishers who can provide boreholes.
