Nedbank has renewed its sponsorship of the prestigious Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, marking the seventh edition of the cycling event, set to take place from November 7 to 9, 2024.

This year’s 328-kilometer race will begin in Selous and conclude in Zvishavane, with over 300 cyclists expected to participate. The tour will feature stopovers and activations by YAFM radio along key towns, including Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe, Gweru, and Shurugwi.

Chenai Mpofu, Head of Commercial at YAFM, lauded the partnership, emphasizing the long-standing trust between the regional radio station and Nedbank. “We are delighted to announce that YAFM and Nedbank have signed a partnership agreement for the 7th Edition of the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke. We thank Nedbank for their continued trust in us to organize the premier event on Zimbabwe’s cycling calendar,” said Mpofu.

The Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke was launched in 2016 with the aim of promoting wellness among miners, fostering environmental awareness, and highlighting investment opportunities within the Great Dyke region. Mining giants such as Mimosa, Unki, and Zimplats, key players within the geological complex, continue to support the event.

A vital charitable component of the tour is its collaboration with the Gifted Children Foundation, which has paid tuition fees for over 100 underprivileged yet brilliant children from the region, some of whom have progressed to tertiary education.

The tour’s route is divided into three segments, each named after mining sponsors. Cyclists will ride the Zimplats lap from Selous to Kwekwe, followed by the Unki lap from Kwekwe to Unki Mine. The event concludes with the Mimosa lap, taking cyclists from Unki to the finishing point in Zvishavane.
