The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced new fuel prices effective from November 5, 2024, with adjustments attributed to operational costs and international factors impacting FOB prices and landed costs. According to ZERA’s latest release, Diesel 50 will now cost ZW$41.01 per liter or USD 1.52, while the E20 petrol blend is priced at ZW$40.62 per liter or USD 1.51.
The monthly review, valid until December 4, provides a transparent breakdown, showing the total landed cost for both fuel types and associated taxes, administrative fees, and distribution costs. The diesel price reflects an FOB (Free on Board) rate of USD 0.7176 per liter, while E20 blend is slightly higher at USD 0.7417 per liter. Notably, the price buildup includes a 20% ethanol blending ratio, aimed at enhancing fuel supply stability.
In response to fluctuating fuel import expenses, ZERA has emphasized that operators may sell fuel at prices below the maximum cap depending on their cost efficiencies. ZERA advises operators to clearly display prices as mandated and notes that these adjustments are in line with its regulatory policies for maintaining stable fuel supply and fair pricing.
The regulator encourages stakeholders and the public to verify fuel price releases on the official ZERA website and social media channels to stay informed of future adjustments.
Fuel-saving reminders accompany the announcement, urging motorists to observe speed limits as a measure for enhancing fuel economy amidst global fuel challenges.
