A Zimbabwean legislator has called for the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the legislative sector.

Presenting a vision for a “Digital Technologies Committee of the Future” at the ongoing SADC Parliamentary Forum Honourable Lynnette Karenyi-Kore emphasized the importance of leveraging AI for smart, inclusive, and responsive governance, highlighting how it can transform parliamentary processes to meet the demands of the 21st century.

Karenyi-Kore highlighted the Parliament’s 7th Institutional Strategic Plan (ISP) for the period 2025 to 2029, which focuses on transforming the legislative body into a modern, well-resourced institution capable of meeting contemporary governance challenges.

Central to this plan is Key Result Area Number Five, which outlines the need for embracing digital technologies, with AI as the driving force behind policy analysis, legislative drafting, and public sentiment synthesis.
