Gweru Man Sentenced for Domestic Violence and Property Damage.

A 34-year-old man from Nehosho, Gweru, has been convicted of physical abuse and malicious property damage after a violent domestic dispute.

The Gweru Magistrates’ Court heard that on December 11, 2024, the man assaulted his 35-year-old wife during an argument over changing television channels. He damaged household property, including a Samsung television and a DSTV decoder, valued at USD 295. The assault involved repeated slapping, hitting, and kicking.

The offender was sentenced to 10 months in prison, with three months suspended for five years on condition of good behavior. An additional two months were suspended if he reimburses the damages. The remaining five months were suspended on the condition that he completes 315 hours of community service.
