Tragedy struck on Saturday afternoon when three people lost their lives in a head-on collision between a Mandaza bus and a school bus at the 40 km peg along the Masvingo-Harare Road in Beatrice. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the fatal road accident at the 262 km peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road near Lutumba Tollgate has risen to 25. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of 22 victims identified by their next of kin.
Authorities report that 29 injured passengers are receiving treatment at Beitbridge District Hospital, two at Gwanda Provincial Hospital, while 13 have been transferred to United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals.
Police are appealing for assistance in identifying the remaining three victims and continue to urge motorists to exercise caution on the roads.
