A revenge attack in Silobela has left one man dead, while a separate violent altercation in Maboleni has resulted in a man fighting for his life in hospital.
In a statement police confirmed that on February 20, 2025, Pardon Ncube, 33, was involved in a dispute with Bekhithemba Tshuma at Msilahobe Business Centre, leading to a violent confrontation where Ncube’s car was damaged. Ncube later returned with a group of friends, ambushing Tshuma and fatally stabbing him. His body was discovered in a pool of blood, and police have since arrested Ncube, with more suspects being sought.
In an unrelated incident the same night in Maboleni, Brighton Nkomo, 34, was attacked after stepping in to defend a friend at Mangwande Township. After refusing to buy beer, Nkomo was struck twice with an axe and hit with a brick, leaving him unconscious. He later managed to report the attack and is currently in critical condition at Gweru Provincial Hospital.
Police have launched a manhunt for the Maboleni suspects and urge the public to assist with any information.
