The stage is set for the prestigious Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines Jumbo Golf Tournament, which tees off today at the Bulawayo Country Club, with defending champions Mimosa Mine hosting this year’s edition.

Affectionately known as “the Jumbo,” the tournament has been a fixture on Zimbabwe’s sporting and business calendar since its launch in 1972 by the Mazowe Mine manager. It has since grown into a premier networking platform for mining executives, suppliers, and stakeholders, blending competitive golf with relationship-building in the country’s mineral-rich economy.

This year’s event carries added significance as it coincides with Mimosa Mine’s centenary celebrations. Established in 1925, the platinum producer is marking 100 years of operations and will use the occasion to showcase its heritage and contribution to Zimbabwe’s mining sector.

The tournament, played in the popular four-ball better ball Stableford format, will run from 20 to 21 September. It is expected to attract executives, mine managers, and suppliers from across the industry, with sponsorships from leading mining houses adding to the event’s prestige.

As the fairways of Bulawayo Country Club come alive, the Jumbo promises both fierce competition and the networking atmosphere it has become synonymous with over the past five decades.
