A family from Beacon Corp resettlement farm in Shurugwi was brutally assaulted in their own home by a gang of masked armed robbers demanding gold and money.
Speaking to Great Dyke News 24, one of the victims Mrs. Ngirazi who was at home during the time of the attack said the robbers who were six in number and armed with axes and machetes demanded gold and other valuables.
Benson Ngirazi the husband to Mrs. Ngirazi who was not around when the robbers pounced revealed that he is suspecting the artisanal miners might somehow have got inside information about his mining activities that could have led to the attack.
He added that the robbers caused a massive destruction and took away a number of valuables.
Meanwhile the family’s 11 year old son went missing during the time of attack.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko said investigations are underway and he is yet to receive a full report of the incident.
