Buy Zimbabwe scooped the 2021 Economy Drivers Award hosted by Innotec in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The awards ceremony was held yesterday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo.
In an interview with Great Dyke News 24, the Buy Zimbabwe General Manager, Alois Burutsa said they are happy to receive the award.
“It is an honour as Buy Zimbabwe to receive the award because it shows that we are getting traction and our efforts are being recognized and noticed.
“We received an award at the inaugural Economy Drivers Awards Ceremony which are primarily for the organisations and companies that are at the forefront of driving the economy and through our Buy Zimbabwe mantra which is to push for the production and consumption of local goods and services.
“The organizers saw it fit for Buy Zimbabwe to be recognized and we are happy to be part of the companies recognised for driving the economy,” he said.
Event organizers, Innotec Chief Executive Officer, Tidings Chaitezvi said the awards recognise the economic key players in achieving government’s Vision 2030.
“The awards are meant to appreciate the companies and organizations who are driving the economy in line with government’s Vision 2030 and the goal of Zimbabwe becoming an upper middle income country by 2030,” he said.
The awards ceremony were presided over by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Dr Mavis Sibanda who was representing Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga.
The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Bulawayo Province, Judith Ncube, government officials and captains of industry.
