Zvokuitirwa, Chimanimani West, faces an unprecedented environmental catastrophe as a pole-treating chemical spill contaminated their water sources, causing livestock and aquatic life losses in the Murare River.
The spill, a result of a foreign registered haulage truck accident, has also affected residents, with reports of health issues due to fume exposure.
Headman Zvokuitirwa reported significant losses, including 28 goats, and noted that some villagers fell ill after consuming the affected goat meat.
Environmental authorities are actively working to address the crisis and remove the chemical from the water source, but the culprits behind the spill remain at large.
