There are now 2,557,837 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 pandemic, new cases recorded yesterday were 75,254 and 690, 226 cases have recovered.
Cases in South Africa increased by 165 to bring the number of confirmed cases to 3,465. The death toll remains unchanged at 58. Recovered cases have increased to 1,055.
Cases in Zimbabwe increased by 3 to make them 28 and there are two cases who have recovered from the virus.
There were 5 new cases recorded in Zambia to bring the total number of cases to 70 and the death toll remains unchanged.
UK Govt Funds Zim Coronavirus Fight.
The British Government announced a US$43, 6 million aid package for Covid-19 medical supplies to Zimbabwe. British Ambassador to Zimbabwe Melanie Robinson confirmed the development yesterday, saying the package covered infection prevention and control efforts, broadcast messaging, child support, psycho-social support for front-line workers and humanitarian aid to help the poorest and most vulnerable across the country.
Ramaphosa announces more relief measures for distressed South Africans
President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced a set of new measures aimed at saving the economy and countering growing hunger and distress across the country amid the coronavirus outbreak. Ramaphosa said the government had decided to implement a temporary six-month coronavirus grant. The measure will see R500 billion being directed towards relieving those adversely affected by Covid-19.
