Two men have been arrested in connection with a case of theft of gold ore at a mine in Kadoma.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said on July 20th the duo together with six others who are still at large stormed Mhofela Syndicate Mine during the night and harassed two security guards on duty before stealing 500kgs of gold ore which was loaded into an ox-drawn cart.
The statement added that one of the guards managed to escape and raised an alarm. Investigations led to the arrest of two suspects.
Gold ore theft cases are on the rise in the Great Dyke and residents have often called on authorities to impose stiffer penalties on mineral theft-related crimes to sanitise a sector often blighted by lawlessness.
