Families of the five miners trapped underground at Chegutuās Task Mine have written to the Mines and Mining Development ministry asking for the recovery effort to continue for another fortnight.
Family representative Admire Gwatidzo told Great Dyke News 24 reporter Anesu Munyoro that the rescue team had indicated that before the effort was stopped, they were close to the trapped miners and it is the familyās wish that the five or their remains be retrieved from the mine.
Government last week stopped the rescue operation for the five miners that have been trapped underground since 8th of September 2020 due to challenges faced by the rescue team including absence of the underground plan.
