Chirumhanzu police have arrested four suspects in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred in the early hours of March 13, 2025, at Holy Cross Business Centre.

The suspects, identified as Romeo Dzingai (26) of Village Chikato, Headman Makamba, Chirumhanzu; Tonderai Musavengana of Village Mombe, Headman Mombe, Chief Hama; Sifas Chikohora (30) of Bikita Office, Bikita; and Trymore Jachire (25) of Village Zimowa, Headman Chimunye, Chief Chirumanzu, allegedly stormed five shops at the business centre, wielding machetes and knives.

According to police reports, the gang forcibly broke into the premises, threatened shop owners with the weapons, and demanded cash and valuables. The terrified victims handed over cell phones and cash totaling $2,317 before the criminals fled the scene.

Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer, confirmed the arrests and urged business operators to enhance security at their premises.

ā€œWe encourage shop owners to reinforce security by installing burglar bars, screen doors, and where possible, employ security guards. The installation of smart security systems such as alarms and CCTV cameras can also help prevent such incidents,ā€ said Inspector Mahoko.

Investigations into the case are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
