Veld fires have been a recurring problem in regions where mining activities are prevalent. To combat this issue, the Mberengwa Miners Association has launched educational initiatives to inform both villagers and miners about fire prevention.
The Association`s President Mr. Anderson Tsikira, in an exclusive interview with the Great Dyke News, highlighted the mining sector’s commitment to preventing veld fires in the communities surrounding their operations.
Tsikira explained that in the Mberengwa area, WhatsApp groups have been established to educate miners on how to avoid starting veld fires during their operations. He emphasized that veld fires have far-reaching consequences, affecting not only humans but also wildlife animals and domestic livestock.
