King Solomon Hotel who are the organisers of the Miss Bodylicious Zimbabwe beauty pageant, meant to recognise curvy African women, are calling upon Zimbabwean women to audition for the contest to be held on 11 December 2021 in Kwekwe.
Speaking to Great Dyke News 24, Solomon Matsa who is the brainchild and sponsor of the event said the initiative is meant to celebrate middle-sized women in Zimbabwe.
“Miss Bodylicious is an idea which came up after realising that we are not celebrating our beautiful African women specifically my own woman.
“The white concept of Miss World is always predominantly for very slim tall women and we as Africans we don’t see that as beauty, not because they are not beautiful but we have what we call beauty that is middle sized women and there is no contest in Zimbabwe which considers those middle range women, hence we came up with this initiative. This is a Zimbabwean contest,” he said.
He added that he has set up a task team which is organising the pageant.
“To those who want to contest there is a flier which has the contact details of specialists whowere appointed for the event who are Miss Mavis Moyo assisted by Millicent. The event is being organised professionally. I am not involved in the event as I am just a sponsor. The rest of the work is being done by the professionals.
“We also hope to have other people in the beauty and tourism business to partner with us and support the ladies. There are five criteria to choose a beauty queen which includes brains, African beauty, tertiary qualifications, and the love for our country.
“We don’t want people who come from outside the country to take over business. We need to help our leadership in the government to create employment whereby people will earn good salaries and we want to promote our economic growth so everyone must contribute.
“We want all our beautiful girls to come and converge at King Solomon Hotel. We don’t segregate and the whole country will be invited for the contest at the 11th of December,” he added.
King Solomon Hotel operates in Kwekwe and Harare with one facility under development in Gweru.
