Production at Mafu Gold Mine in Filabusi came to a halt after an acrimonious row between management and its employees over poor working conditions and low remuneration.
Speaking to Great Dyke News 24, some of the employees who have been on strike for the past eight days revealed that they are not reversing the action until the mine employers address their plight.
A number of gold mines including Rio Zim, Metallon and Falcon Gold were also forced to halt production after being highly indebted and failing to pay salaries.
Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has cleared all outstanding payments to gold mining companies for bullion deliveries to Fidelity Printers and Refiners (FPR), the country’s sole authorised gold buyer.
