MDC leader Douglas Mwonzora has defended his partyās decision to engage with Southern African Development Community (SADC) leaders at the recent summit, emphasizing the need for dialogue over boycotts.
Mwonzora argued that participating in the summit allows for direct interaction with regional leaders, enabling the MDC to address key issues affecting Zimbabwe, including respect for the constitution, free and fair elections, and inclusive economic growth.
āWe believe in dialogue with the heads of state and ministers within SADC,ā Mwonzora stated. He criticized those advocating boycotts, stressing that engagement is crucial for advancing Zimbabwe’s interests.
Mwonzora also highlighted that Zimbabweās hosting of the summit brings SADC closer to the people, making it easier to address concerns like human rights abuses and economic integration.
