Zvishavane based men’s social netball team Platinum Kings has appealed to well-wishers for sponsorship, saying they are lacking adequate support.
The team which was was formed in 2016 plays in the Zimbabwe Men’s Netball Association (ZMNA).
Platinum Kings was started with the main aim of combating challenges faced by young male students but has gone as far as breaking gender norms and excelling in the sport which is mainly associated with females.
Having won the ZMNA championship at one stage, the team dreams of representing the country in international tournaments.
Great Dyke News 24 caught up with the team’s manager Blessed Bothwell Chinyangare popularly known as Torinto in netball circles, who called for sponsors to chip in and fund the team.
“We are appealing to individuals or companies who are willing to sponsor us so that we can showcase our talents and fulfill the dreams of young boys. We are also calling for support from the society,” said Torinto.
Torinto said the team aspires to represent the country abroad.
“If all goes well we see ourselves representing the country in club championships that are held throughout the world.
“We also hope to have a vibrant national team, so that we can participate abroad,” he said.
Despite all the hardships, the team strives to be the best and is aiming to help young boys interact through sport.
