President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on African media to prioritize national interests in their reporting.
In an interview with Chinese Central Media, President Mnangagwa emphasized the need for African media outlets to align their coverage with the promotion of their respective national agendas.
President Mnangagwa underscored the importance of media in shaping public perception and highlighted the role of African media in advancing the continent’s development narrative.
President Mnangagwa made the remarks while in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and a state visit to China. This visit marks his second official trip to the Asian nation, reflecting the growing ties between Zimbabwe and China.
President Mnangagwa’s visit to China includes discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation, trade, and investment between the two nations, as well as participation in FOCAC, which aims to deepen China-Africa ties through mutual support and collaboration in various sectors.
