President Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a directive in his first Cabinet meeting with new members, calling for a significant reduction in overseas travel by Cabinet ministers and parliament members. The President cited concerns that such travel disrupts the efficient conduct of official duties.
President Mnangagwa emphasized that foreign travel should only occur if it is of strategic importance to the nation. Furthermore, he urged that ministers and their deputy ministers should not be out of the country simultaneously, as this negatively impacts government operations.
In addition, President Mnangagwa addressed the issue of collaboration between ministers and their deputies. He expressed his decision to ensure that all ministers work in harmony with their deputies and stressed that their roles should be seen as complementary, aimed at maximizing the utilization of their combined skills.
