Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Owen Ncube has lauded Sabi Gold Mine in Zvishavane for its commendable efforts in employment generation and adherence to regulatory standards. Speaking during a recent tour of the mine, Minister Ncube expressed confidence in the mine’s potential to significantly contribute to the economic growth of the province.
Highlighting the importance of Sabi Gold Mine’s operations, Minister Ncube praised the decision of the mine to sell its gold to Fidelity Gold Refinery.
He emphasized the significance of transparent and formal trading practices in bolstering the growth of the Midlands provincial economy and aligning with the country’s ambitious goal of achieving a US$12 billion mining economy by 2025.
Minister Ncube further noted the substantial increase in Sabi Gold Mine’s workforce, which has risen from 120 to 620 employees since the mine resumed operations.
Additionally, he highlighted the remarkable escalation in gold production, with the mine now producing 40 kilograms of gold bullion per month, a significant improvement from the previous output of 15 kilograms.
The resurgence of Sabi Gold Mine under Anmack Mining Private Limited’s stewardship marks a pivotal moment in the region’s mining sector, promising positive economic outcomes and contributing to the realization of national mining targets.
