Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) members will soon start accessing fuel from Glow Petroleum service stations worth $1 million every month.
This comes after ZMF sealed a five year deal last month with the fuel supplier that will guarantee fuel supplies and shorter waiting times in queues at service stations for small scale and artisanal miners.
According to a memo directed to small scale miners by the ZMF Chief Executive Officer Wellington Takavarasha, the miners should produce Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) Metbank identity cards for them to access fuel under the facility.
“This letter serves to notify you that ZMF and Glow Petroleum have packaged that Glow Petroleum garages will have fuel facility to provide one (1) million worth of diesel available every month for the artisanal and small scale miners as long as they produce Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) Metbank identity cards,” he said.
He added that the fuel will be sold in local currency while urging miners to liaise with the local ZMF leadership so that they don’t join the long queues.
“This is effective. ZMF members should liaise with the local ZMF leadership for more details so that they don’t join the long queues. Please note that the fuel will be sold at pump price (paying either with cash-bond, swipe or eco-cash -No USD component),” added Takavarasha.
