Three people narrowly escaped death in a road accident on November 21, 2024, around 5:00 AM along a dust road between Sherwood and Indarama Mine.

The incident involved a Toyota Dyna vehicle carrying eight passengers, which veered off the road and overturned while negotiating a curve approximately 2 km from Indarama Mine. The passengers were thrown from the vehicle’s loading box, resulting in varying injuries for three individuals. They were promptly admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the white Toyota Dyna, registration number AFW 3929. Police have since impounded the vehicle, which is now being held at the Vehicle Examination Depot in Gweru as investigations continue.

Authorities are working to identify the owner of the vehicle and determine the driver responsible for the incident. The police have urged motorists and road users to exercise extreme caution to prevent such accidents and safeguard lives.

Investigations into the cause of the accident and the whereabouts of the driver are ongoing.
