Two people have died in the Midlands in what the Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed as suspected cases of suicide.
In the first case, a thirty year old Gweru women allegedly committed suicide over her boyfriend’s alleged infidelity.
Speaking to Great Dyke News24, Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands Spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident saying they are still investigating the case.
“l can confirm that we are investigating a case of sudden death by hanging, circumstances are that Blessing Chizanga, a female adult aged 30 was with her sister Shyleen.
“She was complaining to her sister for her boyfriend’s infidelity. Shyleen tried to counsel her and she seemed understanding.
“The informant left Blessing alone in the house proceeding to their sister’s house who also stays in the same neighbourhood.
“On return she discovered that all the doors were locked and she used the backdoor to enter into the house.Whilst inside, she found her sister hanging on the roof beam,” he said.
In another case, Inspector Goko said said they are also investigating another case of death by poisoning in Kwekwe where a man was found dead with a suicide note which only stated his preferred area of burial.
“We are also investigating a case of sudden death by poisoning in Kwekwe were the body of a man by the name Tendai Mupamhanga was found near Kwekwe General Hospital .
“The police searched the body and found a suicide note which only stated his preferred place of burial but did not state any reasons for suicide. The body had some bruises .
“As usual we are appealing to the members of the public that if they are involved in domestic disputes they should involve the assistance of a third party,” he added.
